Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother, and Wayne David Cardellini (a father), a businessman. She is of Italian, German (from the paternal maternal grandmother), Irish and Scottish descent. Linda was the eldest child of four in San Francisco Bay, California. When she was 10 her interest in acting after she sang in a school Christmas play. She also continued doing school plays, as well as the community theatre. She started her career as an British actor in Just William (2010), which was a British series which aired on British television. Her breakthrough came in 2015 when she was cast in the leading role in Cinderella which was a film about fantasy. The actress previously appeared as the role of Lady Rose MacClare as part of the period drama Downton Abbey. James went onto portray the Countess Natasha Rostova, in the TV version of War & Peace, in 2016. She also appeared in a number of films. They include the action movie Baby Driver (2017) and the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018 and 2021) and musicals Mamma Mia! We're Back (2019) as well as Yesterday (2018). Her portrayal of Pamela Anderson for the biographical show Pam & Tommy in 2022 earned her Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards.
